27 Reasons you (yes you) need a life coach

  1. You have trouble following through on goals A life coach will help you set attainable and realistic goals that will motivate you, not intimidate you! Life coaches are experts at goal setting strategy, and choosing the right goals is an art that a coach can easily help you navigate through so that you actually, finally, achieve the results, success and happiness you’ve been seeking.
  1. Limiting beliefs have been holding you back We all have a crazy boatload of limiting beliefs that act as roadblocks and prevent us from achieving our goals and aspirations. Coaching will not only make you more aware of these thoughts it will also provide you with strategies to challenge and reframe these thoughts so they no longer stand in your way. PLEASE believe me when I say you can rewire your brain to think differently!
  1. You need a cheerleader (don’t fool yourself, we ALL do!)- You need someone in your corner at all times, who will never judge you and will always see you as your highest self, even when you can’t see it yourself.
  1. You simply don’t know where to start- Your viewpoint of life has been undoubtedly molded by you, your environment and your life experiences. You hold specific beliefs and habits that shape your lens of yourself, life, situations and events. Many times the answer you’re looking for is right in front of you.A coach can see you and your situation, through the eyes of a trained professional whose goal is to focus on YOU, guiding and facilitating the process. They can also see old patterns or beliefs that have been keeping you stuck and work with you to resolve these and move past them in the direction of your goals.
  1. Anxiety and stress are recurring themes– Sometimes your dreams and aspirations are so massive and overarching, that the thought of actually achieving them leaves you short of breath. Sometimes a drastic change or major life transitions happen so quickly, we lose our identity. Sometimes you’re dealing with something that is beyond you and just have no idea of how to approach or solve it. These are the best times to hire a life coach.
  1. You’re unable to define a clear vision- If you know exactly what you want in life and how to make it happen, congrats you’re ahead of most people. Many people have vague dreams of greatness and bursts of inspiration of making their dreams come true someday, but have no plan to actually make it a reality. Some people are not sure what they want or what their life’s purpose is. This can make life feel meaningless and dry, leading to feelings of hopelessness or the feeling that something is missing. Clarity is one of the most valuable assets to reach your goals. How can you get there if you don’t know where you want to go? By offering an external perspective, a life coach helps you see yourself and your situation through a new lens. A life coach will ask you powerful questions you may never think to ask yourself, thus creating space for new thought patterns, new ideas and new questions that lead to new revelations and new solutions.
  1. Your finances, health, relationships, career or business (or all) is in complete disarray- The everyday demands of work, the stress of life and the struggle to find time for relationships take a major toll on your mental, physical and emotional health and vitality. Without your health, undoubtedly, every other area of your life suffers. Do you ever feel like you can’t have it all? It is not the case. You have your own unique strengths and weaknesses, some people are better at relationships, some people are creative but scattered, some people are pragmatic and accomplish tasks, but are rigid. And most people unconsciously overwork to the point of exhaustion — or even illness. A life coach can help you see which areas you excel at and which areas require more attention or assistance, so you can create a lifestyle that allows you to have everything that is important to you in life.
  1. You’re stuck- Roadblocks come up all too often in life. They’re inevitable. And these roadblocks can be debilitating if you don’t know how to get around them. A great coach is like having a bulldozer that comes in and removes roadblocks. They have the skills and experience to solve anything you’re facing. So what may be a BIG problem to you is most likely a simple fix to them (or not a problem at all). Hello coach, bye-bye roadblocks.
  1. You’re lostYou may be feeling completely lost in thought about what your purpose in life was or where to start looking for that matter! Uncovering your vision and true passions in life is a game changer. You’ll gain that longer term perspective of exactly how you want your life to pan out and enabling you to live every day with a sense of purpose.
  1. You’re unhappy- Coaches know how to help you to reduce stress, integrate all aspects of your life, simplify or downshift, and reorient around what makes you the happiest. What good is increased productivity and profitability if you’re not happy?
  1. You’re happy- So, why would someone need a life coach if they’re already happy? It’s the perfect time for a life coach. When you’re happy, and you love where you are, you’re more likely to be open to growth. You’re more likely to wonder what else is out there for you to reach out and grab and be more willing to do the work. I’ve met many people that are unhappy that are willing to do the work as well, but being happy can be a great motivator as well.
  2. You just got out of a relationship– You’re brokenhearted, or maybe not-so-much. Either way, you’re starting over. And that’s a beautiful place to be. You have every reason to be excited about beginning again on your terms. But, what are your terms? You might not know. Working with a life coach will help you clarify what you want, why it’s important to you, what’s possible for you (hint: everything), and how you can get it.
  1. You’re comfortable- Here’s something most people overlook… A business coach will make you uncomfortable. They will call you out on your excuses. They will push your limits. And what’s the result? You will achieve what you’ve never achieved before. To be successful in anything, you can’t maintain mediocre routines. You can’t stay in your comfort zone. If you step outside of your comfort zone, you will be greatly rewarded.
  1. You’re scared- Let’s face it: We’re all scared. We’re afraid of the dark, afraid of looking stupid, afraid of failure, afraid of success, afraid of what people will think, afraid of what they’ll say, afraid of being alone, afraid of being seen, afraid of not being seen, afraid of leaving a relationship, afraid of spiders, whatever it may be… Afraid, Afraid, Afraid! A life coach will hold the space for you to name your fears, give you tools to take action despite them, and change the way you look and feel about your fears. You’ll still have fears, you’ll just be able to stand up to them with more courage.
  1. You’re done with therapy and thinking now what? Therapy and coaching can make a great marriage together and life coaching after therapy can be a perfect self-discovery journey. Many therapists cross over into life coaching, and if you find someone that does that for you, great. But, if you feel your relationship with your therapist has run its course, finding a life coach that will help you with your “now what?” inquiry may be just what you need.
  1. You’re an entrepreneur- I find that most entrepreneurs need some level of coaching. Most entrepreneurs work alone, work a lot and struggle with work/life balance, fulfillment, boundaries and happiness. A coach will teach you how to balance your life & create boundaries ultimately leading to more time, better relationships and more fulfillment in life.
  1. You want to change your profession- If you’re looking to break out of your day job and start your own business or enter a new field, the expert guidance of a life coach can give you the confidence and assurance you need to take the necessary leap.
  1. You need to improve your health- If your health could use some attention and renovating, you may want to hire a life coach. A coach can help you determine your goals, break them down into attainable milestones, be your favorite cheerleader along the way and hold you accountable. A life coach can also help you work through the issues behind poor health decisions so that your newfound health is sustainable.
  1. You’re a procrastinator Being a procrastinator is never going to get you where you want to be. Reaching your goals takes discipline, action, and it calls for getting things done on time and keeping to your schedule. A life coach can help you change your patterns of behavior and break your habit of procrastinating so that you can move forward and live the life you want today.
  1. You don’t have time to wasteDoes anybody have time to waste these days? The fact of the matter is life can be hectic and people are busy. Wasting time going around in circles, trying to reach your goals, will only take up more of your precious time than you have to give. Working with a life coach will save you time by helping you find solutions faster and by keeping you on your path so that you can get to where you’re going as quickly as possible.
  1. You need to make more money A common dilemma that people are running into is the need for more money when they are barely making enough to survive. It can be difficult to break into your dream job when you are depending on the steady income that your current job provides. A life coach, however, can help you make the money you’re looking for while you do something that you love. They can direct you to resources and provide you with the insight you need to go in a rewarding and profitable direction. It’s a win-win situation.
  1. Your self-confidence could use a boost When you’ve been struggling along on your own for a while, it’s easy to become demotivated and lose confidence in your own abilities. By putting you back on the right path, hiring a coach also helps you to rediscover the confidence and motivation you need to make it happen. A coach is always in your corner, and will never judge you. A good coach is the perfect mix of confidence-boost and accountability.
  2. You need to move on from your past- A coach helps you to see blockages that you are blinded to so that you can confront them and deal with them. Until you confront these feelings and blockages head on you’ll drive yourself crazy trying to get around them.
  3. You need help with everything right now- You don’t know which way to go, or what to fix first. Or how to feel better about yourself , your life and your relationships. Chances are you’ve been so busy taking care of everyone else around you, you forgot about YOU. A life coach will teach you how to really put yourself first before attending to the needs of others- you are doing yourself and everyone around you a disservice if you are caring for others before you care for yourself. A life coach will help correct the negative chatter you have in your head (the way you talk to yourself is SO important!)  and set boundaries so that you start serving the most important person in your life first- that’s you!
  1. You need more accountabilityHonestly, who doesn’t? Have you ever broken a commitment you made to yourself? Yep, me too. As silly as it may sound, the power of your “word” to an unbiased third party (namely your coach) can be pure magic. Having a coach to verbally commit to each week, puts more leverage on you to make your commitments happen. Some people have told me that they shouldn’t have to hire a coach to “report in” to weekly, just to get more done. Shouldn’t they be disciplined enough to “just do it” on their own? Perhaps. However, you’ll often times identify action steps through coaching that you never would have thought of. How can you implement an idea you never had? Whether you consider yourself motivated or not, disciplined or not, creative or not, never underestimate the power of your word within the coaching relationship.
  1. You need a more balanced life- Is that really possible? Of course it is. And, it’s something we can all use more of. Each area of our life IS connected. When one area of life is out of balance, it affects the others. In coaching we’ll look at your whole life – from Health to Relationships, from Career to Finances, from Fun and Recreation to Personal and Spiritual Growth. As we focus on rounding out each area of your life, a ripple affect influences each of the others. Balance gives you peace of mind, energy and a deeper sense of fulfillment. And, yes, it IS possible.
  1. You have toxicity in your lifeWhether it’s in your own head, in an important relationship, or just too many people you associate with. It’s time to clean out the closet! A life coach will help you learn WHY you need to clear the toxicity and HOW to do it. Adios bad vibes!
